Festival "Virmalised"

For the first time in independent Estonia, on three evenings, the best pianists of our time will perform the best Estonian piano music of the century.

In addition to classics, new pieces will also be performed at the festival dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. For example, new pieces by Jüri Reinvere, Tõnu Kõrvits, and Tõnis Kaumann will be performed in addition to the classic pieces by Eduard Tubin, Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Ester Mägi, and other Estonian composers.

Each festival concert is special, as it features pianists of different generations. There will be performances by Ivari Ilja, Peep Lassmann, Ralf Taal, Irina Zahharenkova, Mihkel Poll, Johan Randvere, Sten Lassmann, Kristiina Rokashevich, Mati Mikalai, Age Juurikas, Sten Heinoja, Kristi Kapten, Marko Martin, Tanel Joamets, Kai Ratassepp, and Maksim Štšura.

The theme of northern lights (virmalised) is recurring in Estonian music and culture in general. The idea of the festival is to bring new pieces, as well as the best of Estonian music to the listeners. According to Mihkel Poll and Sten Lassmann, the artistic directors of the festival, the festival "Virmalised" is an exceptional opportunity to enjoy the masterpieces of Estonian music by the best pianists.
