Tale of Hundred Dances

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, the Estonian Folk Dance Association is organizing a concert "Tale of Hundred Dances".

The concert will take place at Kalev Sports Hall on June 1, 2018, and since the 1st of June is an International Children's Day, the concert has put a lot of emphasis on the children who are very actively engaged in the concert. Before the beginning of the event at 5 p.m., children will have different workshops on folk dance.

The concert at the Kalev Sports Hall will show how the Estonian folk dance has changed and developed during the past 100 years, how folk dance has come to the stage from the village square. The 11 dance ensembles from all over the country bring it to the audience.

The concert is directed by Helena-Mariana Reimann, who has contributed to many Dance Celebrations and who is an instructor of the dance ensemble Sõleke. The concert features 11 dance ensembles from all over Estonia: dance ensemble Kajakas, dance ensemble Kuljus of the Tallinn University of Technology, dance ensemble Kullaketrajad, folk ensemble Leigarid dance ensemble Sõprus, dance ensemble Tarbatu of the Estonian University of Life Sciences, dance ensemble Tarvanpää, dance ensemble Tuisuline, folk ensemble of Tartu University, folk dance ensemble Soveldaja of Tallinn University, and Tallinn Hobby Centre Kullo dance ensemble Sõleke.
